Hybrid powered expedition cruise ship MS Roald Amundsen continues to make history – as Hurtigruten announces the first ever ship naming ceremony in Antarctica. World leader in Explorer travel Hurtigruten plans to modify several vessels for shore power already during first half of 2016. The initiative follows a stronger environmental focus in the Norwegian company, operating a fleet of 13 explorer vessels. The shore power installation will significantly reduce fuel consumption and air pollution during port calls.
