Hurtigruten Offers 10% Off All 2025/26 Voyages Plus its Most Generous On-Board Credit Ever

(April 1, 2024) — Hurtigruten, the undisputed expert on Norway and its stunning coastline, is offering 10% off and an on-board credit of 5,000 Norwegian kroner, equivalent to more than $450, for guests who book before July 31, 2024.

Guests can choose between all three of Hurtigruten’s coastal journeys, including the recently-launched The Svalbard Express and North Cape Express, as well as the Original Coastal Express, the legacy route it has operated since 1893. As with all itineraries, all three sailings are available in full journeys or half voyages northbound and southbound, respectively.

The Svalbard Express offers 10- to 15-day summertime Arctic itineraries to the Land of the Midnight Sun, from May to September. Voyages travel in both directions between the city of Bergen, mainland Norway, and the settlement of Longyearbyen on the Svalbard island of Spitsbergen, far beyond the Arctic Circle.

Guests will retrace the pioneering steps of the early explorers by heading along the Norwegian coast, then deep across the Arctic Circle to the Svalbard archipelago, almost reaching 80 degrees North. Sailings offer passengers slow-travel time to learn more about the Norwegian coast, its culture and way of life, with ample time for shore excursions at 16 different locations in almost 24 hours of sunlight. The region is renowned for its incredible wildlife, including dolphins, several species of seals and walruses, an enormous variety of bird life, endemic reindeer, and Arctic foxes.

The North Cape Express makes multiple wintertime trips along the entire length of Norway from Oslo to the North Cape, with seven- to 14-day itineraries between October and April. In the winter, the natural beauty of the Norwegian coast is on full display, as are the Northern Lights dancing across the night skies. Guests witness wildlife in their natural habitat and enjoy full immersion in Norwegian heritage throughout 16 destinations, passing by dramatic cliffs, picturesque inlets, and traditional fjord-side villages well beyond the Arctic Circle.

Thirty-eight seasonal excursions range from the history of the maritime regions, including iconic Viking and World War II sites, to adventures like fishing on a 100-year-old boat, snowmobiling to The North Cape, and dog-sledding adventure across the countryside.

The Svalbard Express and North Cape Express routes are both serviced by the recently refreshed MS Trollfjord, which was recently featured on Conde Nast Traveler’s The Best Cruise Ships in the World: The Gold List 2024. Locally sourced wood and stone support a décor of natural colors and soft textures, with an elegant environment that harkens back to the golden era of small-ship sailing. Guests enjoy an all-inclusive culinary program, including a beverage package and afternoon tea, along with personalized service. Suite guests get to enjoy all meals in the fine-dining restaurant Røst, which non-suite guests can also enjoy for an additional fee.

The Original Coastal Express is the classic Hurtigruten route, one that has drawn the coastal regions of Norway together for more than 130 years. This legacy voyage, ranging from two to 17 days, can include up to 34 different ports, giving guests multiple ways to sail up and down the 2,500 nautical miles of the Norwegian coast.

Having just appointed the world’s first-ever Chief Aurora Chaser, Tom Kerss, and extended its unique Northern Lights Promise, Hurtigruten also added more astronomer-led voyages for 2024/25, following its success this past season.

Hurtigruten has operated the Original Coastal Express since 1893, while the new Svalbard Express and North Cape Express launched last year. A more premium take the new itineraries differ from the Original Coastal Express by spending more time in ports with the refurbished MS Trollfjord. The Svalbard Express is the only sailing linking the Norwegian mainland with the Svalbard archipelago and is timed around the Midnight Sun, whereas the North Cape Express sails during the popular Northern Lights season. As the Sun heads towards solar maximum in 2024/25 – a peak in solar activity that occurs every 11 years and sees an increased number of charged particles released into space, it means that the current and 2024/25 seasons offer some of the best-ever viewing opportunities of this natural phenomena.
