Press release -

As Norway reopens, Hurtigruten’s Coastal Express nears normal operations in time for Northern Lights season

On Saturday, the Norwegian government removed most of the COVID-19 restrictions in Norway.

“We are very excited to now have the opportunity to give even more guests the unique experience to sail the Norwegian Coast, and let our guests enjoy the wonders of the northern lights under more normal circumstances,” Hurtigruten Norway CEO Hedda Felin said.

As the Northern Lights season starts, Hurtigruten Norway will increase guest capacity on board its seven ships in the Norwegian Coastal Express. The shore excursion program will gradually return to normal.

“Safety always comes first, and we keep many of our health and safety in place. At the same time, we can now welcome more guests on board and can restart even more of our excursions. This is very good news for our guests, local communities, local suppliers and the travel industry along the Norwegian coast,” Felin said.

Even though most of the restrictions and infection control measures in Norway are removed, there are still travel restrictions and quarantine rules in place for some travellers from abroad.
